PLATTSBURGH, NY — Schonbek introduced a plethora of new colors for the Geometrix® collection of high-tech lighting at the January Dallas show. Adding these to the existing Geometrix® colors, Schonbek offers a range of color options rare in the lighting industry.

"These are colors that Nature never thought of," said President & CEO Andrew Schonbek, "achieved by the creative manipulation of light waves. In a sense we persuaded Nature to join us in an experiment.

"We threw out all conventional notions of visual reality. We wanted to give our audience new eyes, as the Pointillists did, as the Impressionists did, to see the true brilliance and dynamism of light.

"We invented not colors but color sensations that baffle description, color experiences that are not merely perceived but deeply felt on an emotional level.

"Like an artist with a canvas, we applied our colors on a two-dimensional plane forming consciously random patterns. Every Geometrix® design in the new colors is unique, because of this orchestrated randomness. The orientation of the crystal also differs from one Geometrix® design to another, and this adds yet more complexity to our scenario, intensifying the power and multiplying the variety of the colors.

"The new colors manifest in two moods: Shimmering splendor — or a kind of golden, molten earthiness.

"We're using STRASS® Swarovski® Crystal jewels that are exclusive to Schonbek. Secret formulas have been applied to create iridescent colors that are in constant shimmering motion. We blend these crystal colors to achieve a powerful visual sensation that we can name: like Ocelot, or Sun Dance, or Rave. A Vertex® design in Ocelot really does feel like being in the presence of wild and dangerous beauty.

"Another grouping of new Geometrix® colors makes use of Golden Teak crystal coloring by STRASS® Swarovski® Crystal. By combining this essence of liquid gold with other crystal colors, we create a variety of earth tones of unbelievable richness.

"The one quality all these new colors have in common is animation. They seem to breathe prismatic excitement. Even with the lights off, they feel alive.

"Amazingly, with the lights off, the crystal colors transmute into equally fascinating but very different colors. It's like having a crystal chandelier or wall sconce with two personalities, for example, wildly extroverted when lit, quietly seductive when unlit. The phenomenon is so interesting that we actually displayed a number of Geometrix® designs unlit in our showroom at the Dallas show "a first in our history."
