PLATTSBURGH, NY — The Geometrix® collection of high-tech lighting by Schonbek is taking new and unexpected directions. President & CEO Andrew Schonbek revealed a variety of new designs at the Dallas market this January.

"For the 2007 season," said Schonbek, "we've carried our exploration of geometric shapes to the farthest reaches of Euclidean space. We may even have left Euclid behind."

Vertex® pyramids assume colossal dimensions

Originally Vertex® pyramid pendants were small and jewel like. Now they are available in massive sizes, the largest chandelier 25 inches at the widest dimension. These colossal Vertex® pyramids may have three or four faces.

"The great advantage of a vast Vertex®," said Schonbek, "is the prismatic brilliance of such a broad surface of crystal. Our newest Geometrix® colors, which are a random blend of iridescent crystal colors, are especially mesmerizing in these large new Vertex® chandeliers."

Vertex® diamonds present a cool new shape

"These new Vertex® designs," said Schonbek, "assume an incredible crystalline shape. Sharp planes and angles give you a heightened sense of the inherent drama of geometry."

Sizes range from tiny pendants to huge chandeliers. In the largest designs, broad planes of crystal showcase the new Geometrix® color blends and create phenomenal patterns of color and light.

Fashion shows five faces with Vertex® pentahedrons

These new designs are yet another expression of crystalline geometry. With five triangular faces, Vertex® pentahedrons have an expansive quality like some new theory of geometry reaching beyond the known.

Vertex® pyramids, diamond and pentahedrons are available in all Vertex® colors.

Elements chandeliers, pendants and sconces bedazzle by means of simplicity

The basic building block of the new Elements collection is an elemental cylinder, long and narrow like a telescope, perfectly rigid -- and richly encrusted with Strass® crystal.

"Elements can be expressed," said Schonbek, "in the simplest possible form" such as a pendant. Or it can be a chandelier or sconce composed of cylinders and rings. Or an undulating elemental chandelier.

"One Elements chandelier looks rather like a solar system. At the center is a massive Strass® crystal sphere, finely faceted, rare and ravishing. Orbiting this intensely brilliant sphere are individual multicolored Elements swooping off the merest ring of a gallery composed of large faceted square Strass® crystal gems. This unusual gallery is suspended by airplane cable. As with any celestial system, open space is an important part of the design. All the elements of Elements appear to float in space.

"A second Elements chandelier brings minimalism to a whole new level of elegance. The body is a solid faceted column of flawless optic crystal topped with a Polished Silver spike. Slender arms undulate like light wave frequencies, each supporting an infinitely cool crystal cylinder. Tiny chokers of Swarovski® rhinestones encircle the arms at the base of each cylinder."

Elements is also a bath bar

"As a bath bar," said Schonbek, "Elements is likely to inspire a lot of remodeling. It's almost impossible not to tear out your bathroom and start over, once you've seen this totally original vision of lighting for the bath.

A thin horizon line composed of big square Strass® crystal gems supports a glittering continuum of crystal cylinders. The square crystal gems are precision faceted to achieve an amazingly modernistic look; the slender crystal cylinders are supremely chic. We also render this style of Elements as a simple wall sconce."

All Elements come in a wide variety of crystal colors. They are especially mysterious and startling in the new Geometrix® colors for 2007.
