Schonbek presents 32 varieties
of The Rose, a new
crystal chandelier reminiscent

of an English rose garden

PLATTSBURGH, NY, JUNE 22 - Among the new Schonbek lighting designs for 2007, The Rose is the most abundantly expressed.

A plethora of crystal color palettes intermingle with a host of vintage frame finishes to express The Rose in 32 varieties - a profusion that echoes Nature's own roses.

The Rose also takes many forms: crystal chandelier, table lamp, floor lamp, wall sconce and electrified candelabrum lamp.

Even in its form, The Rose is profuse. Schonbek offers The Rose as a crystal chandelier, a table lamp, a floor lamp, wall sconces and an electrified candelabrum lamp.

"The Rose will enchant romantics who favor faded furnishings and gauzy drapery," said President & CEO Andrew Schonbek, "If you lack an attic full of heirlooms from forgotten ancestors, The Rose will make it up to you."

The design is named after the delicate faux porcelain roses entwined in the scrolls and crowns of these exuberant designs.

Schonbek commissioned antique styles of crystal especially for The Rose to bring back an authentic feeling of the past.

There are tiny faceted crystal jewelry beads and dainty green crystal leaves. Elongated crystal raindrops weep from curvaceous arms. Some renditions of The Rose are entirely trimmed in glossy opal crystal in pastel colors. Some are a mix of opal and transparent colored crystal.

The multiplicity of complexions of The Rose becomes possible because Schonbek creates The Rose to order for every purchaser. It's a native blossom, home grown in the Schonbek factory in the USA. "Most chandelier makers," said Andrew Schonbek, "are bringing in container loads of standard product that have been built in a production line offshore for the mass market. The owner of a Schonbek doesn't want to be part of a mass market. We customize The Rose to a degree unprecedented in the lighting industry.

With The Rose we have joyfully embraced complexity and multiplicity." Schonbek's offering of The Rose in multiple forms makes it possible to indulge in nostalgia in every room.

You might put a two-tiered version of The Rose chandelier in the foyer, The Rose with a 24" diameter in the dining room, The Rose with a 13 or 17" diameter in small bedrooms, The Rose pendant in tiny bathrooms, and matching lamps and sconces everywhere.

The Rose table lamp resembles a mini chandelier, with a hand-sewn shade of sheer iridescent organza. The floor lamp supports a magnificent 6-arm crystal chandelier. Granny shades (optional) will appeal to nouveau Victorians.
