The set for The Apprentice this season is very Trump, ablaze with Schonbek crystal chandeliers. This is Season 5. Tune in Mondays at 9/8c on NBC.
A TRIUMPH OF TRUMP-A-COCO
“I call the style of these rooms Trump-a-coco,” says Production Designer Kelly Van Patter, “a mix of rococo and Trump. When you think of Donald Trump, you automatically think of crystal chandeliers. He has huge Schonbek crystal chandeliers in his penthouse, and his penthouse definitely influenced the design of the set.”
AWE-INSPIRING ENTRANCE
Donald Trump knows how to make an entrance, and the entryway to the world of The Apprentice is suitably ornamented with a Schonbek crystal chandelier.
The design is Scheherazade, an exotic chandelier richly beaded with Strass® crystal.
POWER PLAYS BY CRYSTAL LIGHT
Contestants aspire to the power and affluence that characterize the Trump lifestyle, and planning their strategies by the light of Schonbek crystal chandeliers fuels their ambition.
One team uses the rec room as their war room. They work beneath a Renaissance crystal chandelier 40 inches wide and densely trimmed with handcut crystal pendants. The style of this chandelier recalls the seventeenth-century court of Louis XIV, whose reign was characterized by unabashed opulence. The furnishings in the rec room also echo Louis XIV styling.
DREAMS OF SUCCESS
Contestants dream of success, so there had to be crystal in the bedrooms, too. The crystal candelabra on the bedside tables are so magnificent that Kelly Van Patter calls them “tabletop chandeliers.”
The design is Renaissance by Schonbek.
ALL ABOUT PERFORMANCE
The Apprentice is all about performance, and according to Kelly Van Patter, “Schonbek pulled this project together very quickly. Installation instructions were easy to follow. And there was no breakage. Everything was great.”
