Grupo UltraFemme has installed two colossal Schonbek crystal chandeliers in Cancun’s Luxury Avenue, the first mall boutique in Mexico.
President & CEO Andrew Schonbek said that, “Schonbek is delighted with the UltraFemme project. The chandeliers we created for UltraFemme are custom designs extravagantly ornamented with finely faceted crystal. They are in keeping with the high prestige brands that abound in this amazing mall.”
Grupo UltraFemme has 27 stores in the Mexican Caribbean and Los Cabos and has been ordering crystal chandeliers from Schonbek for twelve years. The new chandeliers for the Cancun mall in Kukulcán Plaza are the largest and most lavish to date. “Crystal reflects abundance,” said Elena Villarreal, President of Grupo UltraFemme. “We like to think that our Schonbek chandeliers have attracted prosperity to our many projects.”
Most unusual in this project is a Schonbek crystal chandelier that wraps around a huge column in the UltraJewels store. Because of this unique configuration, the chandelier was constructed in twelve independently lit pie sections to be integrated during installation.
The outer diameter is 113 inches (288 cm). The chandelier displays 1,800 SPECTRA® Swarovski® Crystal jewels in square and trapezoidal shapes, and a dense fabric of crystal chains composed of 48,050 SPECTRA® Swarovski® Crystal octagons and 8,250 Gemcut® crystal icicles.
An even larger Schonbek crystal chandelier (not pictured) shines down on the escalator connecting two levels of luxury shops. Visitors can’t take their eyes off the chandelier, according to Villarreal. “Crystal always adds glamour. But a crystal chandelier of this magnitude takes it to a higher level. The Schonbek design is magnificent. It reflects the light like diamonds.”
This Empire style chandelier measures 15 feet (457 cm) in diameter. There are four tiers composed of 46,582 SPECTRA® Swarovski® Crystal octagons and 1,638 Gemcut® square and trapezoidal crystal jewels.
