In addition to its championship golf courses, equestrian center and ski trails, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort & Spa contains a $44 million art collection.
Museum-style tours are offered every day. In such an environment, among the Remingtons, Ertes and original Audubon sketch books, lighting could scarcely be ordinary.
Our first assignment was to produce crystal wall sconces with a feather motif in the metalwork. The feathers were a tribute to Chief Nemacolin of the Delawares, guide to George Washington and the resort’s namesake.
Because we were able to produce a pleasing design in record time, we were asked to supply chandeliers as well.
Among existing Schonbek product, the Nemacolin team liked Olde World, a glass-arm chandelier design reminiscent of nineteenth-century Bohemia, where Schonbek was founded. But unusual dimensions were required for low ceilings in the hallways and lofty ceilings in the lobby, so we made significant changes in the proportions.
We can work to any dimensions and in any scale.
By the end of three months we had delivered over 400 crystal wall sconces and chandeliers, the largest chandelier measuring 72 inches in diameter, with 60 candles.
